Flood doors in action in Birmingham, UK

Floodguard uPVC doors and windows were used in real flood reached 1.6m flood depth and featured on BBC TV news. The flood occurred in June 2023 in Birmingham.

The doors were designed and tested to 600mm depth but went a full metre beyond that level. The small amount of floodwater that entered the family home came in via the lock cylinder.

The doors held up due to the quality of the Rehau uPVC profile with the unique hidden reinforcement, and the flood-spec glass used. The push-in gasket and locks were replaced in preparation for the next flood event.

Whilst the resident family were out of their home for 12 months on the previous flood, this was reduced to less than a week for this event.
